To help ministers and churches deal with the ever changing and even more complex tax laws, two new manuals have been added to the Benefits Board web site. The manuals are used by permission of the Evangelical Council of Financial Accountability (ECFA), the premier financial accreditation agency of churches and non-profits in the United States.
The first manual, Preparing Tax Returns for Clergy (2015 Edition), is an easy to read guide to assist ministers in completing their tax returns, as well as understanding what is and is not taxable income to members of the clergy.
The other new manual, Reporting Procedures for Congregations (2015 Edition), provides the local church with a roadmap to guide the church leadership through the different reporting and compliance issues that a church is responsible for under the law.
In addition, the other manuals on our web site are currently being edited to include all changes that have occurred in 2014, especially those involving the Affordable Care Act.
Please use all these resources to keep you current and informed on issues facing the church and the clergy.
